To make a long definition short: Consumerism is a consumption-oriented lifestyle that undermines the subjectivity of the individuals(us) and tends to objectify them and monopolize/manipulate them for the benefit and profit of the capitalists.
Consumerism is a modern form of slavery which is “milder” but more powerful.
Consumerism changes our life into a cage full of advertisements and conspicuous consumption which causes pollution, ecological crisis and psychological crisis.
It is an addictive drug that makes us feel thrilled but will exhaust us by ruining our psychological immunity.
